About

Meet students where they are.

I'm Mary Key, an educator and curriculum leader focused on a single question: how do you meet each student exactly where they are? I'm the founder and lead consultant of Key Up Education, where for nine years I've designed tutoring, instructional consulting, and hands-on STEM experiences that help students build the foundational literacy and math skills that shape everything else they learn.

Today I also serve as Associate Head of School at Fellowship Christian Academy. I specialize in supporting at-risk learners: identifying the specific skill gaps that hold a student back, and closing them. My approach is individualized and practical, built to reinforce classroom learning through real-world application while easing the planning burden on the teachers I work alongside.

Part of that comes from experience. I navigated executive-functioning challenges throughout my own education, so I understand firsthand how attention, organization, processing, and confidence shape learning. I use that insight to design strategies that are accessible and effective for every kind of learner.

Signature Program

Summer STEM Camps

Since 2017 I've designed and run hands-on summer STEM camps where students explore real engineering through projects like injection molding, working shoulder-to-shoulder with industry engineers from ZAG Equipment, Fordham Plastics, and Core Technology Molding.

STEM Field Trips

Injection Molding & Math

In partnership with RJG, Inc. I created one-of-a-kind third-grade field trips that teach math through injection molding, turning an abstract subject into something students can see, touch, and build. Featured on WXII, Plastics Business Online, and Mold Making Technology.

Open Resource Library

I've built a library of classroom resources spanning STEAM, reading, writing, and social studies, with materials for both instructors and students, so good teaching tools are never locked away behind a paywall.
